Meet Delfina

Founder & Academy Director

Hi, I'm Delfina Geus. I'm a musician, singer/songwriter, author, and the founder & director of Passion is Powerful. I'm also the co-founder of DG Adventure Life Academy for boys, and the founder & CEO of Geus Grants, our non-profit arm that fuels our philanthropic outreach. Empowering young artists is what I was made for and I've been doing it ever since I could play guitar.

My Story

About Me

I grew up thinking I was a Disney Princess. My stage was anywhere I found an echo. Music took me from playing in my hometown at a coffee shop to performing in Times Square for 1.2 million people. Now it's a bridge into the heart of young artists.

I grew up in a small beach town in Los Angeles called Manhattan Beach and raised speaking Spanish by my two Argentinian immigrant parents. I didn't know that being a musician could be a career. I just loved playing guitar and singing had always been a passion of mine. I had my hopes set on studying psychology at Pepperdine University, and my full-ride scholarship was a sure-ticket to success. But the summer after graduating high-school I was discovered as a model and singer/songwriter. I postponed my studies for a year. I was offered a music publishing deal by Primary Wave music in New York and they landed me an opportunity of a lifetime: to be one of the opening acts for JLO in Times Square for New York's NYE 2010. I postponed my studies indefinitely and headed off to ‘make it big’, still not really realizing that I had made it. I recorded my first professional EP at Sony Studios in 2009 at 19 years old on my to New York. These songs were featured in Nivea commercials nationally as I was their 'breakout artist' of the year.
But my success was short-lived as haunting memories from my childhood surfaced and I was forced out of the spotlight and into hiding. Hiding was all I knew to do at the time to protect myself from what felt like my entire life was caving in. I spent 10 years out of the spotlight, and however painful these years were, they were also extremely fruitful thanks to God's hand on my life. I taught myself piano, I wrote nearly 100 songs, launched Passion is Powerful, became a published writer in major health & fitness magazines, supported non-profits with my artistry & program, I joined the Skid Row Running club and finished the LA Marathon alongside recovering homeless men & women. I did everything I could to grow my musical gift and give it away to others despite battling crippling PTSD and a chronic illness. My own strength took me pretty far until my hope gave out in 2017 and I entered into the hardest two years of my life.  Finally in 2019 at the age of 29, I made a radical turn back to God out of desperation and in an instant, he healed every wound that had driven me into hiding. I was completely transformed after being re-baptized in the Pacific Ocean and my real life & destiny began. God healed 60 symptoms of trauma and the chronic illness. My idea of who I was and were I was headed was replaced by my new identity in Christ. Four years later, my life is restored and my passion to make a difference with my art is stronger than ever. I'm married to the love of my life and we’ve both founded leadership academies for kids doing what we love. Still, God isn't done writing my story and it’s a thrill to discover the ‘more’ of Him each day. I'm excited to see what he'll do next and powerfully optimistic for what he has planned for Passion is Powerful and each and every young girl who steps foot into my academy.
